Ho Folks
Today I read online about a Great Geo Name from my part of the world and I was shocked to see that some Idiot or moron
has ruined this name for good the name in question is Peeblesshire.com
A small geo location in Scotland and yes what does the person do with this yes a parked page but not just any parked page a sex parked page.
Here is news paper headlines today. and here is main link
http://www.peeblesshirenews.com/articles/1/25304PERVERTED website producers are using Peeblesshire to peddle porn, it has emerged.
Peeblesshire.com does not contain any information or pictures of the region’s breath-taking scenery or beautiful attractions.
Instead it warns visitors to the site of images and videos of sexually explicit material.
The disgusting domain, which shares its name with the region, was exposed by an unsuspecting internet browser searching for more information on the area.
A reader, who admitted they got more than they bargained for after unwittingly logging on to the link, said: “This randy website ruins the reputation of Peeblesshire.
“We are trying to encourage more visitors to the area through local websites, for example, but this will attract all sorts of undesirables and turn the people we would like to encourage to come right off.”
A picture of two scantily-clad strippers standing in a provocative pose welcomes visitors to the depraved site, which offers a range of seedy services, including adult movies, sex toys and adult chat.
However, most are too distasteful to report in a family newspaper.
It is a long way from the picture postcard image of the region which saw its main town of Peebles ranked as the best town in Scotland following a study by the New Economics Foundation in 2005.
Our reader added: “This website is taking Peeblesshire’s name in vain and should be shut down.”
Tourist bosses revealed Peeblesshire enjoyed a surge in visitors last year. And VisitScotland admitted it was all down to the region’s assets.
Last month we reported that Robert Smail’s Printing Works and St Ronan’s Wells Visitor Centre, both in Innerleithen, recorded massive increases in the amount of visitors throughout 2007.
Traquair House and Dawyck Botanic Gardens also witnessed slight increases in numbers throughout 2007, although the Tweeddale Museum in Peebles saw a dramatic drop in the amount of visitors.
VisitScotland’s regional director Sandi Hellowell said: “The wide range of visitor attractions across the Borders plays a crucial part in our tourism industry, attracting visitors from Scotland, the rest of the UK, and around the world.”
THis sort thing gives us all a bad name and does more harm to the industry in general.
