Hi, all.

Firstly, a Disclosure: I am bitter, I have no premium .mobi names.

I am Smiley in general, but kinda feelin  Undecided about .mobi

.mobi buyers beware. Insiders locked up all the good .mobi names: i mean every name including every 4 letter, or any that might have any distant chance of being worth something. Thats not good. All these same insiders will try to hype the .mobi endings and make it seem like its something its not. Wouldn’t be surprised if .mobi fails completely. And because .mobi has been choked out, and not allowed to grow as free content, i have to say i wont be sorry if it does fail. First of all, the only domain names that generate traffic (really) are .com, .net, and .org...The .biz and .info are establishing their value systems in the open marketplace (not necessarily among domainers): I factor based on external end user public analysis, .biz and .info are worth 25% of the value of .com names, if premium. These will come around. Theres not much development there, but its growing.

I think .mobi is a totally unnecessary domain, and will become technologically insignificant. It is cloaked in failure, due to what we in the real estate biz call "ruinous speculation". Simple question is: "Who will type .mobi in the expecation of content?" No one; because there wont be any content to search for on the .mobi namespace: speculators are holding and overpricing them all.

I'm just curious, what does this thread have to do with geo domains? If this forum is about bashing domain extensions then I'll pass, I can find that in other places.

I hope not.  I know a lot of domainers have gone for geo .mobi domains, and I can see them being very useful sites to be.  I've got a few myself.

Besides he did offer a disclaimer or 'disclosure' -

Yes,

being bitter is ok. But please reference the effect of geo .mobi performance in future postings.  This is a geo forum that embraces all extentions.  It is up to the developer to unlock the true value of their geo domain, not the opinion of others and what they think has value.(Although some opinions are worth more than others)

There are people who have the .com market cornered. Does this make them worthless to invest in?  Frank Schilling alone has 300k and growing. The aftermarket is where the action is at, registering quality domains at reg prices is almost obsolete in any extention.

I am not for or against .mobi, but I would like for all to keep an open mind and focus on how they can be built, not who owns how many. Focus on what you can bring to the table instead of focusing on other peoples portfolios and the doom or one extention over the next.

If you don't like an extention, don't buy into it. It really is that simple.   Grin

I am developing geo .mobi sites, I believe it is an oppurtunity to get in on the mobile internet. I believe that someone traveling, looking for info. lodging, real estate, attractions etc. would be better off going straight to a geo .mobi
I recently picked up cannesfrance.mobi and I am developing it now, with paid ads, I can only list a few, but thats fine, keeps the site simple and small. My other geo domains in use, 1 in particular gets a few hundred internet cell phone visitors a day, and thats with no advertising. I hope all of you have success in .mobi and geo domains in particular, I have a heavy investment in geodomains, .com .us and .mobi's.

I already have a t-shirt, bumper sticker, keychain and imprinted cup/s.
I am a silkscreener as well.
Someone said " One way to make sure the mobile internet, .mobi does not fail, is to develop it"
